i am building a p-51 and i would like to make the flap servos travel slower. my thought was to take and put a resister in line with the positive lead on the servo thus reducing the voltage thus reducing the speed. would this work or do i need a controller

The danger of putting a resistor in series is that it may stall more easily. If the load increases the resistor will drop more voltage and could upset the opeartion of the electronics.
Do you not have a servo speed function on your transmitter. My JR does!!!

Hi, rotcapt
If reducing voltage, you'll reduce servo torque ...
Bad bad idea for flaps use, where torque is a must ... if servo stopped, it will overheat.
so, the controller is THE Thing ... or, aboard the Tx, as Graupner does for 2 pos. slow retract switch: a nice Tantalum cap ( 22 or 33µF ) between center switch pin and ground.
