Been out of electric 1/10 offroad truck racing for a couple of years now
and was wondering what are the hot stock motors these days?

I'm fairly impressed with my Trinity Monster Horsepower Pro, but it's
in a pan car. Very, very fast on 6 cells with moderate gearing.

HPI Micro RS4 Viper GTSR- Absolutely not for sale
AE RC10LSS Diablo VT- Maybe for sale
HPI RS4 Sport 2- Wanted, cheap and unbuilt ;)

Honestly, today there are quite a few motors that are quite capable of being
a winner, it's more a matter now of which one for the track's size &
condition. For really big, sweeping tracks(on or offroad), Trinity's Revenge
of the Monster Horsepower (or Monster for short) is very hard to beat, it
has gobs of top end & great power at high rpm, so it allows a car to carry
speed very well(but is the most difficult to gear just right). But for
smaller, tighter tracks(including ones with lots of jumps), you'd be better
off with more low rpm torque, so something more like the original P2K or
Orion Chrome/Peak Spitfire would be better suited(& those are also easier to
gear right, their powerbands are very broad & can tolerate being
overgeared). And for tracks that are somewhere inbetween you might try
Reedy's MVP, Orion Core/Peak Hellfire or Trinity's P2K 2, all of which have
a good mix of torque & top end, so they're very useful at a great variety of
tracks....:)

Thanks guys...I think that tells me what I needed to know. Gonna go with
the Orion since I have used them before and am familiar with them.
