Telemetry

Hi people,
I'm brazilian (so, sorry for the bad english).
Well, I'm building an eletric helicopter to fly about 3,5km away and be controlled by cam. This is not the problem, but how to put telemetry information on the screen (speed, altitude, atitude)? What equipment I will need to do this? I have the cam, powerfull transmitter, receiver and radio signal amplifier, but not the sensors or something to integrate this to the TV image.

Sounds like you need an On Screen Display (OSD). There are a number available from Rangvideo, IntelligentFlight, EagleTree Systems, DPCAV etc. Try googling for OSD.

If you are feeling brave (actually, not that difficult and an excellent excuse to learn some electronics) you could have a go yourself!

And if you persue the idea, avrfreaks.net (especially the forum) is a truly wonderful way to get into microcontrollers and electronics.

I warn you though, head down this road and you will wan to start building your own flight computers, inertial measurement units, control systems, etc etc. Good luck :)
