There is a finished but un-flown Kamco Cadet in my fathers loft.
I built it many years ago but the cost of shipping it to the states is too expensive.
I finished it in yellow with black LEs, wing tips and control surfaces.
It looks very nice but I'm not sure how the glue joints are holding up.

Dekan - good luck with the Kadet, electric power should be fine. The one I helped a beginner with many years ago had an OS 19 and if I were to build one today I would use an OS 30 four stroke. Whatever you choose, keep it light and don't forget to post a few progress shots on here. It may inspire others to revive this great design.
The Kamco Kloudrider (glider) was another fine model which deserves to be more popular. I foolishly sold mine but still have a spare kit tucked away as a future project. An electric version of this would be interesting.
Here are a few more from the mid 70s Kamco range - anyone remember these.

Is that a Horizon 4 channel I see in the Kavalier advert? My first propo set was the Horizon 2 channel...used to yearn after a real 4 channel....

I'm wondering if a 250W outrunner will do the trick..
A friend of mine probable still has the bits of the Kloudrider in his workshop...
I remember the Horizon gear, but I have never seen any in the flesh.. mostly Fleet,Futaba,Skyleader and Macgregor in my youth.

Yes, that's a Horizon 4.
Came across this in an old (Feb '74) RM. May be of interest.

Got my plan today from Derick Scott.. Good quality copy... now all I have to do is find the time to build it.
I think it may need more than a 250W motor..
Anyone know what the U/G track should be?

have you worked out which motor you're likely to use for the Kadet?

Kamco were real rip-off klowns - the Kloudrider was a Monterey and the Kavalier was a Gangster - mind you the kute advertising bunny was worth a sekond looc.
I wish I'd cept my Scyleader instead of ceeping my old sekond hand MakGregor Digimak.

Gordon... I have been told that 75W per pound is ok for a trainer type... so if I dont go mad with the build... 400W might do it

The other thought I had would be to scale it down a bit to fit a common motor as i have a couple of AXI's sitting around right now. Yes 75 watt/lb is fine for reasonable trainer.

The review article says his RTF weight was 4 1/2lb.......using modern gear, lightweight weels (have you felt how heavy wheels are for I.C. models!!) and not using nylon on the wing, as well as a bit of revision on thicknesses of wood I am sure that sub 4 lb is easily achievable so 300watts should see it OK.
The forward fuselage doublers look a prime candidate for modification to start with.

Gordon
