I have a DX6 Spektrum Transmitter. I have FMS working on my Vista machine ( thanks to some hints here ).

I'd like to hook up my DX6 transmitter to my notebook computer and run FMS with my TX as the "joystick".

A year or two ago (a different computer and then Windows XP) I bought a stereo double-plugged male-male cord that was supposed to allow me to run the FMS. I believe that it did work, on that different computer with XP on it.

When I try to hook up the same cord on my new Dell Inspiron 1525 notebook, the only plug in available is the microphone in??? FMS doesn't seem to recognize the TX at all, no matter which setting I use.

It seems that if I cut the end off of a USB plugged wire..and soldered the correct male stereo plug wires to it...I could plug the USB into the notebook and plug the stereo into my DX6...and it should run FMS with my TX. Anyhow, that's what I hope it will do.

Any help appreciated. I know I can buy some sort of a cord on the internet someplace...but..heck..Ive got all of the components here. What say you?

thanks Richg99

No you can't just connect a stereo plug to a USB cable.

You should be able to use your existing stereo cord plugged into your microphone jack, but you will need the latest version of Smart Propo installed. I don't use it, but the latest version says it supports Vista. http://www.smartpropoplus.com/BlueAndGrey/default.asp
