Jus for sharing...

Today my six year old son came up to me with the "dad i'm bored'...lets do something together :)

So he thought up the boat he always wanted. Although im a pilot and have no boaty things.. it was fun to make a boat together from bottles, hotglue, a wooden box and some airplane stuff. It's an ugly boat to my standards, but for him it became the superboat he always wanted.

His technical input when building this boat absolutely amazed me. He controlles the boat like pro. (TX on first...then RX...and watch your fingers dad!..... )

Made out of scrap, his boat ment like nothing to me, but it ment the world to him.

+8 on both eyes, bad hearing on both ears. His classmates think he's a nerd..... still he's my hero :D

What a GEM, father and son doing a project together should be publized in a national magazine and his concept of a boat.

Haha, he's a lucky kid to have a father interested in Rc things. Whenever my dad comes near when im working on planes or boats it appears he has the least interest. And the boat! WOAH! awesome design from a 6 year old.

Sir

Your son is to be encouraged in his building endevours!. For an young man to put that together (with some assistance) and make it work is a wonderfull inspiration to us all.

No, he isnt a 'nerd', he is BETTER than all those that call him names.. he has imagination that so many these days lack.

He is a hero to a lot on here... More please!. :)

The boy is so lucky to have you to jump in and work on a joint project like that. Good to see this kind of thing in this day and age...

Hats off to you and your son sir!

LOL...next your probably gonna have to get the two of you building something more challenging...like springers...plastic kits...etc

Way to go dad and encourage your son and spend time with him to create an outstanding prodject!! Other kids may make fun at him now, but with that kind of drive, motivaion, and inovation, those kids will be working for your son someday!!!!!!!

First of all congrats on having a kid that likes doing 'stuff'. How fun. Next will be bottle boat races!
Second, don't discount the girls! My then two something year old daughter would cry if she couldn't stay outside with us when we ran boats. Now she's four and can steer my sailboats around. I guess I will have to paint that extra Soling 1M pink after all.

Remember Bill Gates was called a nerd and a geek. Look at him now, he is one of the wealthist men in the world.

But you fine sir are richer then Bill Gate for your share a love and bond between you and you son that money cant buy. Speaking from expricane, my boys look forward to our Sunday Morning at the lake sailing our boats, which they evidance by their daily questioning "IS is Sunday Yet?"

For some reason my kids got a lot of attention last night :D

Thanks for sharing that. Its sooooo easy to say "I'm too busy right now" or "maybe later" when an opportunity like that comes up. You're right to sieze it, because in ten years (which holy bovine :) flies by) they will be the ones saying "I'm too busy" and "maybe later". My daughter has (mostly) hit that point at the ripe old age of fourteen.

When I hem and haw about getting off my keester and going to do something with the boys, my wife quietly starts singing "Cat's in the cradle..."

Thank you all your kind words. I translated all the reply's to him, by the look of his eyes i could tell that they made him soooo proud ! I had to promise him to thank you all.

Today at school he figured out a modification to avoid the (almost) tipping over at full throttle. It was the wrong solution ;-). Still, we both figured it out, we fixed it, and just before bedtime made a succesfull testrun.

In all the haste of today's living and working these things are so much rewarding. And this biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig smile when he went asleep................... :D

That is one heckuva pontoon air party boat going on there.

That could be a challenge to all of us to just throw something together from 'stuff' we have laying around. The Recycle Regatta or something... :D

Good idea, Shaun. Even better if it was kid designed. Even if you don't have children, you could always grab the neighbor kid or a grandchild. A great way to reach out to the next generation and "lern em' sumthin'" :)
