I'm the website admin for the Wisconsin Scale Boating Association in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Every few months I do a websearch for scale model boat clubs to add to our club links page. I currently have 21 scale clubs in the UK listed and I'm sure I have missed some. I actually have two questions.

1. What is the proper form for the city designation? Where I can be reasonably certain of my facts I use city, I don't know if it is a district, county, or other designation(i.e. "shire"), and the country. Can somebody educate me as to whether I am using proper form?

2. With so many scale, sail, and fast boat clubs in the UK how does a poor, self respecting pub owner make a living with all you chaps in your workshops, or at the pond?

Looks about right PW.. but you can drop the "City" from Dundee and Edinburgh, it's not part of their name. Otherwise you've got things the right way around - town/city followed by county (not all counties are -shires, but all -shires are counties).

PS
I'd be happy to help you by PM when you add UK links in the future, if you're unsure of an address.

If one is to be absolutely correct, Great Britain is the main island consisting of the countries/former kingdoms England, Wales and Scotland. The United Kingdom includes Northern Ireland.
The correct title is therefore the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. As that is a mouthful it's commonly known by the shorter forms, the United Kingdom or the UK. ;)

For clubs in Scotland check www.sfmbc.net This is the Scottish Federation of Model Boat Clubs. No need to add "city" after Edinburgh etc. and to add to the confusion Fife is neither county or shire but a "Kingdom" ! Note that in the list of clubs that the Gorelston club is in England

You may want to add the Bournville Club to your list.

One club you seem to have missed is the Portland Model Power Boat Association, found at

http://www.pmpba.org/

They are in the Portland, Oregon area, and from what I know are very active in most branches of scale RC boats.

There is also the Burnaby Association of Marine Modelers, BAMM, in Burnaby, BC (suburb of Vancouver). But we don't have a website.

Thanks for the comprehensive list of clubs, including my home club NWRCSM in Seattle. You have given me hours of surfing, looking at all these websites.

Thanks dferay. I will add it during the next update. Every couple of months I do a search for clubs on Metacrawler, which searches several engines at once. If a clubs site doesn't come up in the search I have to depend on being clued in by other sources. Contributions of club sites are appreciated.
