FINALLY! I've got a chance to buy a Aquacraft Bristol Bay, no more reading other peoples reviews and postings and missing out on all the fun.
There's one listed on Tower's Scratch and Dent site for sale without the transmitter, which means I can finally legally* import one into New Zealand! YAY! :D :D :D

However Tower wants to charge a crippling UPS postage fee... :( I've sent them a heart-felt and pitiful email asking otherwise, but I'm not holding my breath. Is there some nice and kind RCGroups Boat section member in the US that can act as go between? Preferably a member who's name/ID I know or seen around. I will the pay the postage cost (USPS not UPS!) to New Zealand and add an extra for your trouble if you like.

Many warm thanks from someone who's got the boat bug bad.

Stu :)

* FYI 75MHz is an illegal RC frequency to use down here in New Zealand and if customs catches you importing not legal to use radio gear, it's a really nasty outcome  I think the fine is more than my car's value.

Double-check USPS rates... I seem to recall that when you get to "Oversize 1" and "2" packages, the international rate skyrockets... to the point where I had to cancel a sale once to NZ because of the cost!

I checked with the USPS website before hand and using Priority Mail International they can send up to 60" long max by 108" for the girth (width x2 + height x2), that's plenty of room I think. Not sure how heavy the Bristol Bay is, but a 20 pound parcel to NZ is $64, I'd gladly pay that rather then $202.00 Tower's web-robot quoted!

Are you keen??? ( big watery eyed look )

Forgot to mention, I'd pay for the boat and initial shipping to your address. Then once the boat arrives I'll paypal or send a cashier's cheque for the postage to NZ.

Check www.usps.com once more, I think!
The requirement is
Max.length 60", max. length PLUS girth 108" : and Priority Mail Intl for this is about $110

BB comes in a BIG box, and will be over the 108" size...

Stu, I'll do the deed, as I've sent down under before. :)

Pat is right on box size, so no big deal, we can rebox it---. ;)

And you won't need priority mail, as it'll go airmail anyway. :D

Brilliant, thanks Karl. I'll take your kind offer.
I've replied to your PM regarding addresses and such forth.

Must stop getting too excited about the modifications she get once my hands on her...

Why don't you have somebody buy the whole shebang, remove the tx (and rx?) to sell on ebay or here, and ship you the stuff you really want?

Stu,

If it happens to work out in such a way that there is one available and I'm in the area, I'd be more than happy to pick it up for you.
