hello everyone. i am in need of some suggestions with what kind of motor to put into a new boat that i am building. i have the hull completed and it stands at about 7' 10" long and about 3' wide, hydroplane style. i am looking for a motor that will pull the boat at about 50ish maybe more. i will try to post some pictures as soon as i can. thanks for all your help in advance.
p.s. i am by no means new to r/c's but i am new to large scale with gasoline engines in them so please be frank.

OK, I'll be frank but my name is Ron. :)
You're looking at one big engine to push that boat into the 50 MPH range! I'd be looking at small Jet-Ski engines or something out of a motorcycle. The next thing is some really big servos to handle the duties. You might have to link several of them together to get enough torque to turn a rudder otherwise find some industrial sized ones. Redundancy is something that I'd seriously look into like a 2nd receiver and back-up battery power not to mention a failsafe.

thank you for the response. i kinda figured i would be looking into something that big. so some of the options i have come up with are; a 110cc 2 stroke from a kids 4 wheeler that i have had up to 40-45 with me on it. a 49cc 2stroke pocket bike motor that i have had up to 45 with me on it(and i weigh 230lbs). i looked into some small jet ski motors but i realized that my hull in the middle does not sit in the water so i would have no place for a water pickup, am i correct in this assumption? as for servos i have 2 servos that will be power the rudder that are about the size of the average mans hand. they should do the job. also if i go with either of the 2 motors i have listed above i was going to route all the servos to be powered off of the battery pack since all of those motors will be utilizing a remote electric start. please feel free to toss back all the feedback you can! this is my first project of this size and i am kinda needing some help. thanks for all your input in advance!

So far it's been just me replying to you, kind of surprising. You could use the Kaw motor but not the jet drive.
A pocket rocket motor isn't going to get you anywhere near 50 MPH but that is a lofty goal anyway and kinda scary if you think about it but cool anyway.
