I need to move the CCD assembly of a digital camera outside of the cameras case. The connections between the CCD and the rest of the camera is made via a thin plastic film "ribbon cable". The conductors are printed on to an insulative film with conductive ink.

I'm wondering if "ready made" extenders are available - and if not how one might go about making extensions.

I've come up with a crude method in which the film fits into a slit cut into a small piece of plastic and a 2-56 screw threads down onto the trace thus making the necessary contact. Two of these would then be connected by stranded wires.

Wondering if there's more elegant way.

Thanks

Do you have any picturs of the film and the CCD ?
You can get ribbon cable from radio spare in 9, 15, 25, & 37 way.
I would solder the new ribbon cable to the camera, and then solder it to the end of the CCD ribbon, insulating with a small amount of bathroom sealent when finished.
Post some pictures, then I maybe able to help more.
