I have a quick question. I am trying to setup some leds on my plane, and I want to be able to use a spare channel on my DX7 to turn them on and off. I assumed the output on the receiver would very the voltage depending if the aux2 switch was on or off....but I put a meter on it and the voltage is always 5v, no mater where the switch is. (I plugged a servo in and it fully deflects.)
So how does the output work? Does it adjust the frequency or voltage?
And does anybody have any quick tips on how to set this up if the voltage always remains constant?
Thanks
Almaz

The voltage is always 5v. Signal wire adjusts PWM to control servos. Do you have any experience with Microchips? It can be easily programmed what you want to do with any microchip. For more info take a loot at http://www.servocity.com/html/how_do_servos_work_.html

If you can program microprocessors, search this forum and you will probably find examples. You can also build one from simple electronic components without a microcontroller. http://www.tuug.fi/~isaarine/electronics/rc-switch/
You can also buy ready made devices.

Or you could use an old brushed ESC, which could also allow you to vary the brightness.
Just make sure you pull the red wire, so that the ESCs BEC isn't trying to supply power to the RX.

Ok, Thanks. If I pull to red wire (5v+), how will I have any power to power the leds? I have a spare brushed ESC with BEC. It would be cool if I could use it, but I want to plug it into the aux2 channel on my receiver, so I don't want to be putting power into my receiver from that port....
EDIT
Oh, I get it, the power would just come from the battery like it would if I had a motor plugged in.
So I can pull the red wire, and plug it in like normal, and just plug my leds and resistors into the place where the motor would be, and that would work?

Should work just fine that way.
