Hi,
I'm pretty new to brushless motors.
I am trying to help a friend repair his plane, after a crash. The outrunner motor of that plane always disappointed somewhat in performance - in fact it would barely move the plane. After the crash, I found that at least 1 of the 3 wires from ESC to motor had gone bad, so I replaced all 3 of them. It went ROOOAAAR, now the motor has LOTS of thrust.
1) The wires were soldered together on the middle, and not soldered very well. Is it possible that one of the 3 wires had a bad (no) connection from the beginning, and that the motor would run, but with lousy performance? Or does a brushless not run at all if even just 1 of the 3 wires is disconnected?
2) I just cut all 3 wires and resoldered them. Oops, the motor ran the wrong way around. I assumed that I could just switch around any 2 of the 3 wires. It worked OK; the motor ran the right way again. Anything I might have neglected here? There is no sensor stuff on the motor, just 3 wires going to coils.
Kind regards
Soren
