Does anyone know where I can get plans and/or information on making a
homemade piezo Gyro?

Would you really put your expensive helicopter at risk by using a home-built
gyro?

Also with the competetive cost of current gyros I doubt you would save very
much.

Cheers,

Nigel

If you're only trying to build a yaw damper, this might be more features
than you require, but I do have details on interfacing with different
OEM angular rate sensors and processing/generating servo commands.

I'm working on a project that is using the Tokin CG-16D angular rate
sensors and Analog ADXL202 accelerometers to produce a low-cost,
homemade autopilot for model helicopters:

Schematics and source code are available as Free software under
the GPL.

I personally use one that *I'D* built because I'm crap at things electronic,
but EVERYONE who uses a piezo these days has done exactly that. All gyro's
have been developed from "home built" units, including the firsr ever piezo
HH gyro.

I agree with you there, but there has to be an element of satisfaction from
building your own that you don't get by writing a cheque.

Wayne,

From your post I am assuming that you are a beginner. You will find from
experience that you will have to give the brand and model of the equipment
you are refering to in order to get a proper answer. Otherwise I will have
to advise you to please check the directions given in the owners manuals for
your items. They are usually very clear in what plugs in where.
