Don,
I have a F-86 Alfa on order with the 5 blade impeller. Which KV motor would you put into this thing. I don't want to go 4S. Can the Extreme be stretched to fly 6 minutes? I want something impressive on command but I still want at least 5 minutes. What is the top speed of your motors in this jet on 3S-1P?

For top speed:
Wicked EDF Extreme 5400 with Alfa 5 blade, should be about 100 mph, it does suck amps at WOT (around 40) so you will have to use throttle management to get your 5 minutes.

For strong overall performance:
Wicked EDF 4800 with Alfa 5 blade fan. This will be about 90 mph but only pull about 30 amps so will be better for duration.

In either case you need to install a 1.8" exit tailpipe in the Saber. A Pentium 40 is the best choice for ESC as it has low resistance. So it is a tradeoff, speed for time since you are staying on 3S lipo (plus it is hard to stuff a 4S into the Saber).

Hope this helps!

I went with the Extreme. What material do you use for the tailpipe ext? I'm sure that even with that mod the thrust is still descent on the bottom end?

I use an overhead transparency material. I just go to office max and they will sell it to you by the sheet at the copy machine counter, it is like $.50 a sheet. You will still have good thrust if you make the outlet between 1.8" and 1.9" diameter.

That's what I'm running in my Alfa Mig with the 5 blade and a TP 3S 2200 V2 Extreme. Flies great!

new2heli,
Socomon has the Wicked Extreme in his F86. It really hauls! Flight times are about 3 minutes without getting too deep into the lipos but great to fly or watch :)

:) Can't wait to put this thing together. It's funny, I fly my Green Sopwith Camel around at about 20mph for 20 minutes and then I'm goin to smoke this thing through the air for 3 or 4! :) :) :) I can't wait!!! :)
