View Full Version : Putting a gasser in a Raptor

Okay guys, let's here why I can't do this.
I was thinking that instead of fooling around with stinky nitro fuel (I know
Beav likes the smell :·) ), nitro engines, glow plugs... I would consider
putting a Gasser engine into a Raptor. I was thinking of putting a Zenoah
or something in. I haven't heard of anyone else doing this yet. Why
couldn't someone put a gasser in? Is the Raptor not strong enough to handle
the engine? Is it not possible to fit a gasser into the Raptor frame? A
Futaba 8 or 9 radio or JR 8103 should be able to handle the engine, no?
Has anyone else heard of someone successfully using a gasser in a Raptor?
If it is possible to put a gasser into a Raptor, which engine would be the
best (size, power, reliability)?

Me, too! Most wonderful smell there is. I guess that's why I'm attraced to
R/C vehicles and racing karts as well. :-)

I suggest you have a look at a common gasser engine - that will instantly
clear the question why a Raptor is unsuitable for this type of engine...

I know exactly what you mean, Ellosam .... er, should I not...?
But the Raptor is a different cup of tea. Unless you build a complete new
frame you'd never get this engine in. Gear ration too is most unsuitable.
Once you changed all that - it wouldn't be a Raptor any more, wouldn't it?
While my Eagle is still 'n Eagle and so is yours - to a lesser degree ;)

I used to like the smell of nitro fuel- but to be honest i don't even notice
it anymore. I guess after regular exposure you become familiar with it and
don't realise it.
Im moving to a gasser soon too, but going for the Hirobo Eagle option- I
don't think it would be physically possible to get a Zenoah into a
Raptor/Shuttle
