hi all. im fitting up a 50 inch mono hull.
when setting the rudder up should the leading edge of the rudder be
infront of the leading edge of the prop . or should it be behind the
leading edge of the prop. when its mounted to the right side of the
prop. so in other words should the rudder be in front or leaval or
behind the prop when looking side on.
i thort it was ment to be slitly to the rear edge of the prop or
behind it (mounted to the side that is).
thanks...................

My electric 26 inch Wild thing has the leading edge just in front of the
leading edge of the prop and it handles pretty well. I would say that
there are pros and cons associated with different placement of the
rudders but I can tell you that having the rudder slightly in front of
my prop definitely gives it some turning ability to the right side. A
lot that I see have the rudder directly in line with the front of the
prop, why? I cannot answer that.
I get results by imitation as I make my own hardware, however it
couldn't hurt to try different combos if you are able to.

I like to have the leading edge of the rudder about even with the
trailing edge or the prop if I can. Doug
