I like to fly-by-video.
One of my worst scenarios, is to fly out of video/radio range.

I would like to have the plane to return to the start-area in case of signal loss.
(until rignal is OK again)

I see the logic like:

If signal gone, then :
-increase altitude to xxx
-head towards programmed area , (or where GPS were before takeoff).

How can I do it ?

Intelligent Flight sells an OSD with integrated return-to-home autopilot for stable planes.

The RTL (Return To Launch) Picopilot could be an option:

For the price Pico Pilot RTl is not a bad deal. If you need the altitude function, try this
