Hi Andy,

Can you hold off for just a little... We are still trying to get our members to use this a little more and with the winter months we have been hibernating......

Thanks,

Marcel.

Hi Headeast,

Do you fly at the VOA park? I went 2 weeks ago and boy was it cold. It was kind a fun flying my Twinstar of the he snow, finally some decent runway to slide on.

This weekend we got another couple of inches snow and it's still cold.

Not Yet. I'm a newbie just getting started.
I'm building an Aspire sailplane, and have been talking to DARTS a bit. VOA is much closer to home though.

Hi Headeast,

The Aspire is a nice flying glider, are you using a speed controller with BEC or an on/off switch? I think the plane climbs OK on 7 cells, what are you planning on using?

I fly a hand launch glider and also a small speed 400 powered glider. But we have several members that fly bigger stuff.

I hope to see you at the VOA, this weekend should be OK since it's finally warming up a little.

Marcel.

Actually, I'm going without the motor. My next plane will be something electric, but I wanted to start with a pure glider.

What time/day are people likely to be at VOA? (do they play cricket in the winter?)

Hi Headeast,

We normally meet pretty early, around 8:30 or so. I have actually never seen the cricket team out yet, but I am sure they don't play in the winter.

Getting up before 8:30 am is not something I do often.... reminds me too much of work. How late do people normally fly?

Hi HeadEast,

We have a little one and she doesn't know the difference between weekday and weekends yet.... so we get up early anyway. We will usually fly up to noon or so, sometimes in the summer longer.

I have a little girl (21 months old) who also likes to get up a lot earlier than her mother or I would like. We are considering painting the window in her bedroom black, so she doesn't know when the sun comes up... hehe

Do you keep the VOA web site up? It looks very nice!

Our little one is 14 months old, she loves to get up at 6:30 or so and just starts babbeling away.... She pretty much has become our alarm clock, don't know where the snooze button is yet (=;

Thanks for the kind words on the web page, it's a lot of fun, I am always in need of more pictures, articles, etc..

Although the weather won't be great we will have some people flying tomorrow. Feel free to drop by if you like.

Thanks,

Marcel.

I don't think there is a snooze button... hehe

Sorry I didn't make it Saturday.... didn't get out of bed until 10.

I imagine there's some of you out there today.... looks beautiful outside.

On the website, I notice you are missing a link to DARTS page: http://www.daytonsoaring.org/

No, I didn't go Sunday either. One of these weekends I'll make it out there, especially if the weather is nice.

I'm getting closer to having my Aspire done... actually have the servos mounted.

Hi Marcel,
I can't remember a Winter since I've been flying where I haven't been able to get at least one flight in every week until this year. Well, at least I haven't had any excuses for not building/assembling new additions to the fleet;) . So far, I have an Accord 47, a Tiny-X, a Mini Speed-Wing, a replacement Twin-Jet, and a Three-Dee completed and flight tested. Also, I have a Mini-IFO ready to cover and the Waco almost finished. Winter had better be about over as I'm running out of room in the basement! Maybe the weather will break this Saturday.

Hi Don,

You have been a busy beaver this winter, I can always adopt some of your planes you know (=;

I think the weather is going to be OK sat morning so I will try to brave the cold. I wil bring some foamies.

Didn’t make it the the field this morning as it was raining/sleeting pretty hard at my house. I did meet Don B. and a friend @ 4PM for a short flying session – it was the best part of the day! Better luck next Saturday.

Hi Don,

This must be the worst winter for flying yet. I got up and went back to bed when I cheked the weather, yuck. It can only get better.

The forecast looks good for this Saturday - 55 degrees and some sun. The ground will be wet but should be OK for foamies. I'll probably set up in our old area at the end of the main drive, as the road back to our field will be muddy.

Hi Don,

I will be there. Sounds like Ted is working hard on getting all our ducks in a row for the AMA application. I still have no clue on what is going on in regards to the soaring club's interest in our field.

If Ted and Paul are there this Saturday, perhaps we can discuss these issues a little over breakfast/lunch after flying.

Next Sat. ( 3-15 ) looks really like spring ! Forecast is for a high of 70 deg !
I'll try everything humanly possible to get out of the house early....

Just hope I don't get my car stuck in the mud again ....
( thanks again, HeadEast ! )

Michael,
We will most likely be in the spot where I saw you on Saturday. There shouldn't be any conflicts with other parkgoers this time of year.
