Good day All:

This link

http://www.tc.gc.ca/civilaviation/general/recavi/uavworkinggroup.htm

is the home page for the public report on UAV proposed guidelines/regulations.

It is very thorough and contains much information on the thinking here in Canada. It covers aircraft size and operational limits, maintenance, Licensing and training proposals. For a government report, the part I have read, appears to be balanced and quite complete.

I have not read the complete report yet, but thought it useful for the group to be able to start reading and thinking about the impact. For my own purposes I might even consider obtaining a basic UAV license, because it covers one very significant item and that is allowing for commercial operations. This now may make it legal to become aerial photographers using UAVs.

I believe that somewhere on the site there is an option to comment on the report.

Happy Reading

thanks small_rcer
very interesting !

seems like even 35kg AUW or lower UAV pilot will need a special
license here
http://www.tc.gc.ca/CivilAviation/general/Recavi/uavworkinggroup.htm#16.5.1

real UAV, autonomous, will need even more certifications ! here
http://www.tc.gc.ca/CivilAviation/general/Recavi/uavworkinggroup.htm#16.5.2

watch table 19.1 here for weight limitation and UAV type:

Very interesting indeed. As a full scale heli pilot, I know TC's slogan really well: We're not happy until you're not happy........
It will be a very long and complicated process. Really wondering what they're gonna come out with for air worthiness certificates... IMHO it will be very hard to make us legal until the economy and technology forces them to do something. I think in 20-30 years we will be seeing pilotless airliners and drones all over above us in cities.
