Having hit age 87, I feel the need of having Genie line plans and parts I now provide available from someone else. Get into the “What’s Available” file in the website below to see what I presently offer and what is otherwise available to help builders complete a ship.

I’ve been doing this for many years to encourage low-cost scratch building of fine handling, fine performing, original design sailplanes. The website http://genie.rchomepage.com/ contains an immense amount of supporting intellectual property that merits being preserved beyond my lifespan. At present, friend Jay Decker posts the pages on web space he generously provides and I provide him updates to post from time to time.

Hits are now approaching 39,000. To my knowledge it is the only site in existence dedicated to building a specific, well-proven, continually-evolving, inexpensive line of state-of-the-art, scratch-buildable sailplanes. These are very rugged, unique thermal ships. See the “What’s A Genie?” file.

Although making it a “for profit” business venture was never my motivation, offering plans and parts has paid for building supplies for my new personal Genies and whatever radio gear I’ve wanted. In over 40 years I've never come to a contest with anything but a scratch built original.

For someone with the time and interest, this could be expanded and made further profitable by offering kits of needed materials or even completed airframes. I’ve always been able to sell my surplus personal ships and have, on rare occasion, profitably built a few on contract.

If interested, e-mail me at harleym@bmi.net. I’m going to prepare a document that explains how I put together what goes in the packages of hardware, etc. Tell me something about your circumstances, so I might help you decide if this is a good thing to put in your hands.

Cost to get set up would be nominal. I have a surplus of the spring steel used in attaching and supporting the tip sections and lots of the flat surgical rubber used in the stab retaining system. I would lend the plug for the universal fiberglass canopy used on the 5 thermal ships. With it, a female mold can be made in which to quickly lay up a canopy.

Things such as SS welding rod, flat aluminum bar, carbon plate, 1/16” nylon for bell crank blanks, etc. are readily available. The Kimbrough Products molded coupler parts for the RDS (File 6) are available through me in bulk at considerable discount.

Harley, I hope you will continue to stay around and provide wisdom and guidance for us "Younguns", even though you are passing on the Genie line to someone else. I wish I had the time and resources to take it over for you!
