hi i am gonna design a uav of 3.5 kg total load using PVC pipes and plastic sheet
here my configurarion
weight 3.5kg , endurance 45mins ,range 10km etc
here my doubts
1. what type of motor with how much thrust i need for convineient flight?
2. is that okay using pvc pipes as a fuselage and plastic sheet as a wing and wing structures ?
3. i need only runway takeoff is that easy to design using materias available in india?
4. i need contacts for buying moters ,servoes
5. i am trying a different control system here for that i need some help in electronics since i am an aero engineer.Becuase hoe iam going to control the uav is the difference in this project.
help me in this project

Raja,

I think the "10 km etc" attitude won't motivate anyone to help you.

You should consider to omit the "etc" thing... ;)

You probably don't want me to second guess your basic criteria of the plane, but have you considered that PVC Pipe is VERY dense for a plastic and not very strong in long pieces (it is floppy)? If you chose a non-chlorinated polymer that would save a lot of weight. I have never heard of a PVC pipe and plastic sheet airplane. What is the application? Why only takeoff from runway and not land? Is this a throw-away one time use vehicle or something?

Sorry if I offend, but some observations... you don't seem to know much about RC sized planes, and are asking for a lot of "contact" info for things that are common knowledge for person familiar with RC. You want a plane for 10Km range, only take off required form runway. Why are you asking these questions on the UAV formum of RCGroups? These are primarily just questions about airworthiness, not autonomous flight. I question your motives because PVC pipe is the last thing I would consider using for a fuselage, but it is nice and dense to penetrate something at high speed in a rigid tube form. In fact, PVC is one of the denser non-metallic and commonly available materials. Of what particular usefullness is a PVC pipe fuselaged UAV for 10Km range that only needs to take off? Almost any other material choice is better than PVC pipe.

As an ex explosives chemist, rocket motor builder, UAV enthusiast and autopilot developer, I see all of this as sort of funny or a bit "off". If your intentions are honest, then you should not be offended by my line of questioning, not that I am any sort of enforcement authority, just a person that is curious.

I think you need to first get experience in building Rc planes and have considerable flying time before you jump into UAV's whether it is 100mts or 10km you are planning. Building and flying models by itself is a science and art combined...I guess you have to begin at the foamies section or the beginers section for appropriate info. Find out fellow flyers in your city join up with them and get to know what it takes in this hobby

Me being from India can sure tell you this hobby requires materials that is very difficult to find locally, and needs to be sourced from US or other places and for UAV building you need loads of money, time and enthusiasm.
