Large scale plans

Please forgive a neewbie question if its been asked before, but does anyone publish plans for proven large scale scratch build designs, or are most builds done from proven commercial kits ?

Should I just scale up some of my successful smaller wing span designs ?

The number of published large scale, proven designs is legion! One place to look is Wendell Hostedtler (google it). You just have to hunt for what you need.
