I have read all the Equipage Monaco 100 threads but have not been able to come to a conclusion on what motor/prop/voltage to use.
I would like to boat to be have a decent top end but be able to cruise around at a moderate speed and get a decent run time. In other words, I dont need it to be blazing fast. I have all sort of batteries Lipo/Nicad/NmH to assemble just about any configuration.
I know about all the hull cracking issues so no need to post about it on this thread.
Thanks to all for your advice.

Everglades Bob big here. I was alittle disapointed about the top speed of my Monaco . I used the recamened motor and speed controle plus two 10 cell4200mah nicmh batteries in parallel . I did not use the trim tabs because it did not go fast enouth . When i get my new Monaco I may try brushes and lipos and abigger prop. I broke the plastic one and went with a 3 blade brass one, like KMOT used.Let me know if you find somethig different and faster.

Motor and prop size go hand in hand. Depending on the motor AND KV rating-rpm per volt, determines part of the formula. Boat weight, type of battery, type of prop- 2 blade racing or a more scale three or four blade. Kmot used a very large mini-ev motor with around a 40mm prop- chime in at any time Kmot!!, I am going to use the same motor but try several different props. I will uuse a whatt meter to see amp draw, volts, and whatts. I do this on planes to find the right prop / amp combo. I'll try to let you know what I find.

My mate's Monaco ran on a Johnson 785,14 cells /3800 IB pack @ 16.8v and spun a Graupner 2 bladed 39mm prop quite nicely.
These are a hefty boat, but his cruised nicely and had decent top end.

I have heard that a 8.4V BB700 with two 7.2v packs in series will give it enough speed. I understand I will have to cool it. Any comments.

I have that same motor. I hooked it up to my 18 volt Dewalt battery to test it for rotation and it leaped right out of my hand. I am thing of changing my ESC to something that will handle more voltage .And maybe LIPOS batteries.

Tested my Monaco today and everything went great. Johnson mini ev with stock prop. 2 -7 cell 2600 packs in parallel, and a ProBoat esc. Perfect scale speed and looks. I'll try 10 cells later but for now ,I'll use what I have. If you need replacement props, Hobby Lobby have generic props with a 4mm brass insert that look exactly like the original one that comes with the boat, around $1.80 each depending on what size you get.
I forgot to take some shots of it in the water but you know what it looks like. It's funny how a wood boat can give you a "woody" while running it.
