could i wire 2 Astroflight 70amp watt meters in parallel so i could add the amps and watts to get the total for my 80cc conversion? or do you now of any actual watt meters that can do over 100amps? not anything like the DPR-II-150 but something like the astroflight.

appleflyer,
If you are using (2) battery packs (feeding through a "y" to your speed control) then you can just put the Whatt meter on one side (before the "Y") ,then... just double the readings you get.

i will be running 2 6cell packs is series so i am guessing that would not work, i would have to run them in parallel for that to work, am i right?

It will work in series. The meter will only be seeing the input voltage from 1 of the packs so the watt reading will be half of what the system is producing.

Sorry, That is wrong. All current in a series circuit will be the same through the entire circuit.

Just get an AC/DC clamp meter from Sears at $59.99.

All current will be the same but the Wattmeter will display only half the watts produced because it is only seeing half the voltage.

if the packs are in series wont the voltage be half and the current be the same? my problem is that the watt meter can only do 70amps and my setup will take 100-110amps

Sorry, with all the back and forth about it working in series or not I missed the fact you said your Wattmeter was only good to 70 amps. Is this an older model Wattmeter? The model 101 that I have is good to 100 amps. Anyway... it looks like you need another meter. The E-Flight E-Power meter is rated to 120 amps. Or you could go with the clamp meter as previously suggested. I'm using one of these: http://www.espritmodel.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=6692 It works great and they have a display for it if you want to look at it in real time. I've run it in real time while hooked up to my PC as well but you should have seen the look on my wifes face after 4000+ watts of wind blew everything around the room:D

Astroflight website shows the 101 super wattmeter as being capable of 70amps continuous so i dont now, but i will check out the e-flight meter

is that the E-flite RC wattmeter or a different manufacturer?
