ST105C F5-E Tiger "Camo" ARF Ducted Fan R/C Jet

30-1/2" wingspan, 51" long, 35 oz. flying weight. This camouflage painted F-5 is an almost-ready-to-fly jet. The only additional items you need are a 6-channel transmitter, receiver, and a lithium battery charger that can charge the included 4 cell 2200 mAh flight battery; everything else is included. Some easy assembly is required: you must glue the wings and tail onto the fuselage and install the control horns and pushrods to the pre-installed servos. A set of retracts are included. The main gear must be screwed into the wings and connected to the pre-installed retract servos. The steerable/retractable nose gear is pre-installed. The airplane includes 9 pre-installed servos, a 70mm ducted fan unit with outrunner brushless motor, a 40A speed control, a 4 cell 2200 mAh lipoly battery pack, retractable landing gear and assorted hardware. Assembly takes only a couple of hours. This jet has plenty of power to take off from a smooth surface or runway. The speed range is moderate with very good manners. Difficult to stall, the jet will slow to a crawl and still maintain full control. Great to land, the approach is easy to control and smooth landings are easy to do. For 6 channels: Ailerons (2 servos), Elevator (2 servos), Rudder, Nose wheel steering, Retracts (3 servos) and Throttle.

Been there, done that - - -

What does "available soon" mean?

I wish you guys (vendors in general) would not advertise these things until the delivery date was forseeable. I waited months for the Cessna from Hobby-Lobby.

This looks like the sister ship to the Hobby-Lobby StarMax F5-E Tiger "Swiss". Identical dimensions. Nice looking airplanes. I'd like to hear any feedback on either version of this F5-E.

Can you guys at Hobby-Lobby put together a video clip of this airplane on your website please? Thanks! :)

This is the exact same bird as the "Swiss" version except they made an improvement on the elevator by adding a second servo. Hopefully, they did something about the nose gear as well. I haven't actually maidened mine yet because I'm going to rip all the electronics out and put my own stuff in there. I don't trust any of the gear, nor do I think the fan/motor/battery are good enough to make this thing fly like it should.

There is now a video of the F-5 Camo up on our website. It is a totally stock jet built by Jay Graves (our CEO).

The stock power system on this jet is a good one for general sport flying. Of course there are lot's of guys that have a "need for speed" the surpasses the stock.

I maidened mine today. This bird flys very well stock for a daily driver. If you want to go bigtime, a Jet Screamer 1400 and a suitable Spin speed control should put you there. I think that this plane is a lot of bang for the buck. I got lots of compliments on it at the field today. If you really want 200 Mph, and high end hardware, there is always the BVM Electra on 16S for $5k plus or minus. :D

If anyone has instructions for the Hobby Lobby F-5E cammo version they could email me I would greatly appreciate it.

I got my kit last week at HL but there were no instructions in the box. I thought they were buried at the bottom and I didn't unpack everything when I was there (DOH!). Tonight I took the box out and started to go thru everything and no instructions......

I'd like to get her in the air this weekend.

Key facts I need are:

1. Kit content list (to verify I have everything)
2. CG location or range
3. stab anheadral amount
4. Control throws

I made a few modes to the camo F5. The plane as it comes is a great deal. Check out this YouTube video to see how you can make it crazy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOznnGo37Ys

Anybody try to do a hammerhead stall with the F5e? I'm building the F5e and I have a smaller version, Freewing T38. The other day I was doing a rolling vertical climb and instead of kicking the elevator over at the top, I decided to kick the rudder hard left. Well that was a big mistake. It went into a tumble and fell about 200 feet. I finally managed to pull out 50 from the ground. Someone told me it was because the rudder is offset so far from the horizontal axis. I've flow it several times since then with no problems, so I don't think there is anything wrong with the plane.
