I want to build a small v-tail floaty thing, was thinking pod and boom style and about 1mtr wings,
what airfoil section should i use and how light should it be to be efficient if at all

A good start would be to look around at the HLG/DLG (hand launch) thread, and you might find some things of interest there.

Look at design parameters on the Apogee at charlesriverrc.org site. It's floaty AND zippy. If you don't want the zippy, just add a bit of camber. It won't float any better, though. Don't make the airfoil any thicker. The original Apogee flies very well, but I'm told with the v tail it won't dlg well. Meets all your parameters except that it has a wide speed range. Careful attention to weight, however, is a must. You need to get close to the weight shown for anything of this span if you want it to float.
