Hey does anyone have contacts who can get KNK model boat kits? I'm just kicking myself in the stern for ignoring these models for 8 years while serving in Japan (especially Tokyo!) Their most popular line was the Jupiter cabin cruiser, which was made in several sizes right up to weed whacker engine size. Also interested in OK Models line too.

Revell.. I'm just in the process of bringing back to the water an old OK Model (about 25 years old) boat. I didn't realise that OK Model was still going?

Yes, OK is still around, but mostly producing aircraft now. Their boat kits are still to be found in well established hobby shops all over the place in the Tokyo area. Welcome back to boating!

Sakura I have the Jupiter in the 32 cc size and one in the 3.5 cc size, am looking to get on of the ABS hulled ones for an electric setup. No address for KNK, maybe some of the Japanese guys will help us out.

Interesting that there is a thread on KNK RC Boats. I urchased a Jupiter F-125 so long ago I can't remember. It has been sitting in the garage gathering dust. It is a big model which builds to over 50" long. At the time I bought this model, the box said that it included the hardware pack but in this case it did not have the hardware pack. I made some attempt to contact KNK just to try to get some information but it is very difficult since their website is in Japanese. I'm thinking about building this model after sitting around for so long. I was surprised to see that the wood is still in perfect condition. There was an auction on Yahoo Japan for the exact engine that was used in this model which I also found surprising. It may be interesting to do some extensive searches to see if any more motors are available. It would be nice to hear from others who are seeking KNK boats or KNK accessories.

Iran Build it and think seriously about using a Xenoh 25 cc as powerplant. Mine has the Baybit(Kawasaki) in it and is spirited to say the least but the Xenoh stuff is available with less hassle. Want to give out the KNK address so we can access it?

I do think that I will build this model. I am doing a lot of static model building of IJN Warships but I do want one model that I can take to the pond and run for a while for R and R. It will probably be impossible to find a hardware kit for this model but a lot of it can be scratch built and there are probably several sources for running gear and prop.

The only URL that I have been able to find for KNI follows:

They've got a nice tug over there. Check this out:

For the metrically challenged, it's 25 inches long, 10 inch beam

I am giving some thought to building the KNK Jupiter. There was no running gear in the kit so I am going to need some suggestions as to what running gear to use and some sources. The area where I will run the boat does not allow gas so it will have to be electric. The boat, as described with the Baybit engine, comes out to about 30lbs. It is 50 inches long and I can not estimate the size of the prop or the rudder.

Also, this box does not have the accessory kit so I will have to do some scratch building. I thought of using some accessories from other cabin cruiser kits of this size. Any suggestions.

Iran,
I imagine with an electric motor, it'll come out a bit lighter than 30 lbs, which I have a hard time believing that weight for 50 by 18 inch model. Must be heavy ply! I'm thinking maybe two 550s for cruising or brushless motors if you want to move fast. Get that hull framed up and show us what it looks like!

There are a few large boats in our group, all owned by u163665. He has a Dumas Donzi, Dumas Prime Time, and Robbe MBZ1000. All very large and heavy boats. A pair of 700's or 900's will power your boat just fine, as they do his.

He uses both the Novak Super Duty ESC and an Electronize 30 ESC.

He will have to fill you in on prop size.
