What is the fastest Giant scale plane, i heard the extra 300 Great planes 100 inch plane is limited to a 10 inch prop due to flutter :(, i almost went for it, please any examples will be appreciated, i'd like to buy a good quality Giant scale plane with good landing capibilites(slow) and fast flying, as fast as it can be without overstressing or flutter. Any ideas?

An Extra is an aerobatic plane, not a speed plane.

Get something like a Lancair (http://www.greatplanes.com/airplanes/gpma1347.html). It's 80" span, a trike, and has been used in full scale racing.

I've never heard of a plane being restricted to a certain prop as most all transmitters have a throttle on them ;)

haha that post made me laugh, a 100" plane with a 10" prop.....my 102" plane has a 27" prop on it, thats the sorta thing that it will turn

I think he meant pitch, but it still doesn't make much sense.

Either way - diameter or pitch - I think you are mistaken. Do they even make props that are 27x10 ?

I don't know you and do not know your skill/experience level but based on the question asked I would say consider the responsibility of flying a 40 lb missile; especially one that flies VERY fast before taking on this project.

I'd say "try a giant-scale pylon racer" but this is so weird...who knows what your experience level is? I'll just say "be careful".

EDIT - Yeah, what Mex said.

27X10 is a pretty common size.

Just looking at the DA site, I see Xoar (http://www.desertaircraft.com/page.php?Page=Xoar)

Mejzlik (http://www.desertaircraft.com/page.php?Page=Mejzlik)

Menz (http://www.desertaircraft.com/page.php?Page=Menz)

MSC (http://www.desertaircraft.com/page.php?Page=MSC)

all have a 27X10 listed.

I guess I am used to the electric props that I have run in the past 18x10, 20x10. I didn't think 10 pitch would do it at that large a diameter. Are those e props you are referring to or high rpm gas setups?

DA doesn't do electrics, so I'm guessing they are for gas engines. Most of them also have 10 pitch props larger than 27" diameter. Until recently, there probably wasn't much of a market for electric-only props in the 27"+ range, I imagine most guys are running props designed for gassers on electric set ups that large.

Mejzlik make a "TH" blade, or thin blade. im running the 27x12TH on my Katana on an A150 (see avatar). turns at 6500rpm and the plane can be seriously quick when i open the taps!!! the TH bit is like an electric blade profile with a gas hub for these big motors
