I have this old airboat and I thought of putting an air rudder on so I can run it across the grass, mud, concrete, whatever. The throttle has been stuck to WOT forever now, so its only a one channel. Maybe something as easy as relocating the gas tank would give me the room.
Real airboats have 2 rudders, do you guys think I really need 2? Most airplanes work just fine with 1 and that would be wayyy easier to me to build.

Does anyone else have an airboat?

Single Rudder will work OK, duals are for more rudder authority at slow speeds. would recommend you get the throttle to work for a bit more safety on the water. Converted my Lil Buggy to a brushless setup and like it better than when it had WET motor. Plan on it sliding when you turn, that was why it had a water rudder from the factory. Might try to incorporate it and the air rudder so you could remove the water one when you are on gras or snow. Wet grass is better to run on, sand tends to remove paint and bottom plastic.

well, I have the rudder set up right now so full left is straight and full right will make it do a 360 and slow down.... but yeah I should look into the throttle situation, can you buy new carburetors for these engines? I think I've seen them for sale somewhere along the way.
And I think incorporating the water rudder is a good idea, maybe make it spring loaded so as soon as I hit something it kicks up.
I'll probably go with one huge center rudder...
