Hello and thanks for looking in. I am an inventor and hold a patent on a new tool in the electrical industry. I have incorporated a ducted fan and a li-po battery pack with some results, however I don't know how to size the fans, batteries, and motors to develope the torque and speed I need. I'm am currently using a brushed motor and wonder if I would be better off with a brushless motor even considering the extra weight of the controller. This tool is not radio controlled and is supposed to go all out for approximately 30 to 40 secs, traveling up to 300feet. If you are interested in helping please email me at bklonghair9@msn.com
I will be happy to supply all necessary info you might request.
Thanks Again,
Buzz

Brushless is almost always more efficient for the weight, and the controllers are not necessarily any heavier.

What is this thing? if we knew the "mission" it would be easier to help.

Also, there are fan calc and moto calc programs that let you play all kinds of what-if scenarios.

Motocalc can be downloaded for a free 30 (?) day trial. Have a look, , , it will help I think. Bill
