Big Creek Lumber in Davenport Ca has found a Yellow/Blue Trinity #15 inside one of their storage sheds. The plane crashed through the sheet metal roof some time in the last few days. Bud McCrary of BCL (831 457-5025) called me today to help them locate the owner so they can return the plane. They are not going to try to collect repair damages. Please contct me or Bud if you kow who owns this plane.

oops!
If the owner of the model has AMA at least make a attempt to pay for damages! Bud has been a great friend to RC Soaring!

I agree with Tom, Bud has been a big supporter of the RC community for years.
He has allowed us to sport fly, race, and even camp on his property.
He loves all aspects of flying from models, hang gliders, to scale size power planes.
I encourage the owner of this plane to step up and to take care of this situation ASAP.
I'm sure Bud will be understanding and realizes things do happen.

I couldn't agree more. The owner of the plane should insist on taking care of the damages. We need to be good neighbors to the world, let alone those great poeple like Bud who let us fly on their land.

Dave, Tom,Tim,
I agree with your input and will work towards getting AMA involved.
Bud was very understanding about why the plane went through their roof and even though I suggested payment for the damages he declined the offer. That does not preclude us for still making an effort to get AMA in once we find the owner.
Bud owns our Davenport ISR site and has flown in the event. His support of our sport/hobby is invaluable. We need to help resolve this issue.

How many people own Trinity's up there, I wonder??
I would imagine that it should be pretty easy to find the owner.
Mine is yellow and red, that was a close one, whew!
I hope that it all works out, Mart. I'll keep my ears open.

A guy was out there spraying the POak along the pathway and where we sit yesterday. Later he was flying one of those fish foamie things. When the wind got going he threw out a yellow Trinity, we were flying laps together, all of a sudden he wasnt there, next thing I know he said he couldnt see his plane anymore and headed down to the beach, returning with nothing and then left. I was busy flying, didnt see any plane go thru the roof of Buds shed.....wow! I thought it probably went into the drink and sunk! He was driving a burnt orange colored BMW, thats all I know. I figured he was one of the NCSS guys as he was prepping the site for the ISR(I think!).

Oh yeah, forgot to say, so we dont think the guy is some sort of devious, hard core, model airplane criminal; Im certain he had no idea his plane blew back into Buds property damaging his shed. He was a decent guy and Im pretty sure had he known, would have gone over to see Bud. Im thinking the poor guy left totally distraught feeling his very nice Trinity was underwater.

Well, at least he might get some usable servo's back??
I can't imagine the plane is not totalled, but you never know.
Yes, the innocent/unknowing should not be scolded UNTIL after they don't do the right thing! Someone must know the guy, and can call him??

If the owner of the model has AMA at least make a attempt to pay for damages.
Is it just me????
I would say even he doesn’t have AMA he should make an attempt to pay for damages.
Cheers
Thomas
PS maybe a report to AMA isn't good at all?

I had those same thoughts myself. It sounds like he didn't even know what happened, and that the owner of the place is really understanding anyway. It MAY be better NOT to involve the AMA...
I'm sure they will work it out.
I'm not sure what kind of panic I would have if I lost sight of my 3M plane, but I know that it can happen. It's frightening, to say the least!

The lift came up late, there was a lot of water vapor/haze in the air, the sun was down lower on the horizon, if youve ever flown certain planes, the Trinity being one of them, you know they can and do at times "just disappear" for several moments. Because of the conditions Im certain this happened to him and he simply couldnt re
establish a visual w/his plane. I know I lost my ESO briefly several times myself. Poor guy, he was bummed. Im sure more so when he finds out he went thru Buds roof! Just glad it didnt hit anybody!

For what its worth, I sold a Yellow/Blue Trinity to a guy that lived in the Bay area in October. I could identify the Trinity if I could see it. There are some distinguishing build techniques. I never put any return info into it. He said he didn't race but flew foamies too, combat I believe. He paid in cash and didn't alk much when we met. I looked back at my sale thread and I don't want to throw anyone undeserving under the bus, so I will PM who I think it was and simply keep it vague and post when I get some response or no response. glderguy, PM me and I can tell you some build stuff.

I'd vote to keep the AMA out of it. AMA's an excess carrier to homeowner's which means the guy's homeowner's or renter's coverage comes first, and the repairs are probably going to cost less than his insurance deductible.
As someone who loves and would support that site, where can I send a donation to help fix the roof?
Long live the ISR (http://www.davenportisr.com/) ] Grrrr....

Sounds like we have a possible lead on the owner of the plane and a probably event that could have lead to the plane landing up the hill in the BCL lot.
I'll repeat my earlier thread, Bud is not looking to collect repair costs, he just wants the owner to get his plane back.
The pilot should contact Bud at 831 457-5025.
How to repay Bud for his roof is another matter and something we should discuss at the ISR.

The owner of the Yellow /blue Trinity has been located and he is calling Bud and will take care of any damages. A bee got under his sun glasses while he was flying and stung him. By the time he recovered from that he could not find his plane in the air.
Thanks to everyone for helping locate the owner.

Wow, didnt know he got stung, no wonder he was "preoccupied"! It certainly wasnt his flying abilities as the guy is a good pilot, he flew that Trinity very smooth and fast.
I had a similar experience at a stop sign on my motorcycle, yellow jacket flew up into my helmet and stung the heck out of me, during the battle with the creature my bike fell over on me I ended up in the hospital w/a fractured ankle. Worst injury I ever had on a bike and I wasnt even moving!

I am glad the owner was located. Curious, was it the same guy I sold the Trinity to?
And getting stung on the face, under any conditions, youch!!
It is no wonder the Trinity flew away, I'll bet the guy was hurting both ways. I would be suffering from depression on that one.
Is the Trinity in flyable shape? Mrfski, please give the owner my regards.
Jim
Glad it all worked out.
