Is anyone aware of a device which integrates something like the Zlog altitude recording device, or gps altitude measurements, with a live downlink and operator viewing device?

Something like this could be used to monitor altitude of a small line-of-sight uav so the operator can know whether they're busting overhead airspace.

Yes, we use the EagleTree Seagull. Quality stuff.

I also see that at least one of the rc-glider thermal sniffer's can report altitude via downlink and even has simulated voice output.

And if you're using an AV downlink, there are a number of video overlay boards that interface with GPS altitude information or built in BP sensors to report altitude on the video monitor. The GPS ones aren't as user freindly because they report altitude as meters above Sea level. But still effective once you get used to them.

Look for SkyAssistant - http://www.pitlab.eu/wario_en.html
It logs several parameters (also altitude) and have voice messaging system working automatically or on demand via PPM channel. Support speech in english (and in many others languages). Can work with imperial units.

One of the SkyAssistant functionality is altitude alarm. After reaching programmed altitude level device generates alarm message: "Warning! Altitude xxx feet", where xxx is actual value if bigger then programmed level.
