what's the reason for putting foam in tires? I had seen some illustration
showing this.

Name?

Well what else are you going to put? You need something that puses the wheel
to the middle of the tyre. Air usually does this in cars but model cars are
so light that you can simply use foam. Different foam strengths will affect
the car just like different tyre air pressure would. You get a bit better
traction with less air etc.

The foam keeps the tire from swaying side to side, which increases
responsiveness. The foam also acts as an extra shock absorber. It
decreases rolling friction by preventing the tire from deforming from
normal weight, and especially from jump landings.

It does act like air in normal tires. The reason we don't use air in RC
tires is because the air pump (with precise pressure gauge), sealed tires
and rims, and air fittings would be more expensive than simple glued and
foamed tires.

are there such wheels that have this feature?

Commercially available & mass produced- no. Among other things, they
would also be too heavy, as the tire carcass would have to withstand the
pressure. So, a different type of tyre is required.
Then again, some freak may have built these just for the heck of it.

the old kyosho sand skipper beach buggy thing had blow up rear tyres, came
with a little pump and everything, i guess you could adjust the pressure to
suit.. hmmm....

there is a company currently making wheel and tire setups for air for the
T-maxx..If I can find where I put their name and adress I will post it
