After an unfortunate crash wih my glider V's tree, one of my HS81 wing servos is not behaving right. Aside from stripped plastic gears, the little motor is continually rotating when the receiver is on...any idea why? Can I fix this? :o

Why try to fix it? I'd replace it and possibly with a MG version, or a HS82MG, as a matched pair of course! And avoid trees!

...And avoid trees!
Valid point. And don't do the same mistake as me yesterday: try to avoid ground, especially when you are trying to do roll with new set of paddles...
BTW motor is constantly rotating because of stripped gears: gears are not driving pot. If you replace gears (if you want to do so) you will probably fix it!

The other possibility is that the gears are not rotating the pot! but that would take you up to an endstop quickly.
It's gears. 99% certain.
The only time I ever stripped a gear was into a tree on the aileron servo.
Model caught a tip and went in backwards.

If you can get a replacement gear set locally and not have to pay a bundle for shipping, I'd go for it. Look at it this way, if you've never attempted replacing servo gears, you'll be learning a new skill

hey thanks for that guys....great advice. I will replace the gears and see if that works. :) - and yes, much better to miss the tree...hard to do when an electric stryker slices your aerial off during a mid air crash :D Cheers

I've had good luck with gearsets from servocity.com, shipping not bad. Or else Hobby-lobby with their 4x4x4 shipping rates.
