I purchased G4 in mid Feb. 08
It seemed to work fine as far as I know. Then I read in this forum that others were getting frame rate in the over 100,some as high as 190.
Until yesterday I was getting FPS with View/Show/All of 3 to 7 fps in 3.5 and
4 to 9 fps in G4. I have 2.99Ghz,1.5G mem,Agp 128 video card.
Yesterday I purchased a new video card
Nvidia 7300 GT DDR 2 512 MB AGP 8X
and now I am getting the following:

View/Show/All

G3.5 G4

3D sites

Observatory 27.1 32.5
Castle 21.4 27.1
Full size airport 45.5 69.1
Aquaduct Ryuma 24.6 32.4
Obstacle course 5 28.9 37.4

Photo Fields

Aztec 34.6
Sod farm 50.8 80.1
College Park 63.5 81.1

I am compiling this to possably get feedback on how my system is performing in comparison to others. Also to obtain methods of increasing my performance.
Thank all of you, Don

This is Lee I responded to your PM.

How smooth is the video? Are you statisfied with the smoothness of the video?

How much RAM can your computer be upgraded to? Upgrading the RAM will also make a big difference.

I have 4G RAM.

If you can install it yourself RAM isn't too expensive.

In response to your request here is my post from another site.

I have been waiting for the 8800 GT video card to become affordable. BestBuy just added this Gateway computer to their line up. It's still more than I wanted to spend but I got the video card I wanted in a shelf computer. This 8800 video card has 512MB memory and is overclocked from the factory. Fantastic video processing set up out of the box for the G4 and games.

I priced out the dual core and the quad core with the same card and this deal from BestBuy is about what I thought the dual core would cost with the high end video card and similar memory.

I am getting FPS rates of 100-148 with everything on. Entire program runs smooth as silk. Average speed is 120-130 FPS. Graphics are amazing. I am also trying a DVI cable to a 61" 1080i big screen. WOW! I don't have the right cord to run sound yet so I'm using headphones. WOWOWOW!!!!

The only way to make it any more lifelike would be to have them send me a bill for all of the planes I've wrecked.

Late note: On the hawk ridge running the computer peaked at 204 FPS for a few seconds. I imagine that the improvement is due to no motor calculations.

4-27-08 Second late note: While playing multiplayer I hit 245 FPS and consistantly run at higher FPS. I would think that I would actually have a lower FPS on multiplayer. Even with the high FPS I saw the first jerky video on this set up. After exiting and re-entering the program G4 ran smoother.

No I didn't reinstall G4

I didn't reinstall just exited the program and then started the program back up by clicking on the icon. I had been trying so many things that I think I had things running that I didn't even know about. Sorry about the confusion.
