Hey ya'll! Question... how does one go about splicing glowire or can it be spliced? I'd like to make a run of glow wire with a different colored wire in the middle (running red glowire down a heli's tailtube, but want to change to blue glowire at the horizontal fin to trace the fin out, then back to red for the tube again, then back to blue for the vertical tailfin).

Can this be done? How are the connectors put on the ends of the glowire? It looks like there is only a single electrode running down the middle of the wire itself, so what do the connectors 2 wires connect to?

I'm having a difficult time finding any info about how to modify glowire or do your own runs of it. Any info or pointers would sure be nice. I have a 400 sized micro-heli called the Falcon 3D which I have set up with night LED main blades and am running red and blue glowire on the tailboom and canopy respectively.

Thanks!

It can be done, but the wires are very fragile... the one lead is the center wire, and then there are two FINE wires that are wrapped around the outer case of the center wire. I always run the hot side to the center wire, and the negative to the two fine wires...

The fine wires can break off when you stripping the plastic off, so it helps to plan a few extra inches of each run, in case you have to recut...

Here's a quick tutorial on it....

Thanks tons!!! That's just the info I've been looking for. Will try connecting a few pieces of scrap glowire together 1st to learn how.
