This is a Chinese knock off of an old Hasegawa 1/72nd scale torpedo boat made by Vosper for Indonisia. It's about 20'' long with a simple radio system in it. (read as in toy) It is big enough to convert to a fast boat with a pair of speed 400's and a 2 channel radio in it. The original kit could be made operational with little effort and was in fact set up to do so. The basic boat would be worth having and converting. You might want to change the safety rails for something a little more scale also.

As said by everyone else said it's a toy... but then again it could be a good bit of cheap fun. I saw them around at Christmas time for $33 to 39NZ, I don't think you can get the now static Tamiya Vosper Perkasa for that.
Only two things that put me off was the 27MHz sticker on the back of the handset (it didn't actually say WHAT the .XXX of the frequency was) and the fact I should using THAT time on my 1/20th Vosper at home.

If I was given one as Christmas present... drop in 300's (beefy 280s) and change the radio gear so she was club-pond legal and I'd strip off all the deck detail, refit and repaint as a Crash Tender.

I might add that on the ''Perkasa'' the deck from the pilot house aft is removable to get at the running gear. Also that you are getting a now out of production Hasegawa model very cheap plus it can be fun as is. ( really neds upgrade though) One more thing 27 mgz is legal in the States.

You can find about, roughly, oh I'd say a Zillion of these on Ebay. They are one of the zillion toy boats that I have to sift thru to get to a few cool models. If these and the "destroyer" models where gone, it would eleminate about 3/4th of the RC boats on ebay.

Good point Tim! Our local auction site has these, the "destroyer" as well as something vaguely resembling a Russian aircraft carrier and "battleships" (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Toys-models/Radio-control/Boats/auction-151870274.htm) too. Just before Christmas there was a flood of Hobbico/Tower/Aquacraft King's Ransom knock offs listed, but they've all gone...

yup, your right Goast, I always get the 2 kits mixed up. I have both the PT-15 and the Perkasa built from the original kits. It is the bigger of the 2. Been thinking of sticking some gear in it.

This boat looks like the same setup as the RTR Smasher Destroyer I bought from Tower Hobbies. While the electronix worked and this boat should easily last more than an hour...It needs better setup. Every time ya turn that thing it rolls something terrible.

Not bad for 30 bucks but I could tell I would wind up getting rid of the stock pod and internals for something with a bit more relyability.

As everyone has correctly pointed out, the Banana Hobby Warship is a toy, it's made entirely of plastic, the receiver has limited range, and the boat has one speed that falls somewhere between fast and you-have-got-to-be-kidding-me. Nevertheless, if you bought the Warship, then let me congratulate you. Look, I'm kind of a newbie to this RC Group and scale RC watercraft, but a looong-time scale modeler in trains, vehicles, and a bunch of other stuff. Heck, fifteen years ago, I bought a reproduction of a mid-1950's Revell plastic model kit of the Chris Craft mahogony flying bridge cruiser, and I'm STILL trying to get it just right. So, yes, I am a scale modeler, and it's serious business, but precisely for that reason, I've learned that its important to let the inner child out to play now and then. Consequently, I recently bought a Banana Hobby toy RC Bismark Battleship, and it's a hoot--oh yeah, I'll eventually detail and scale paint it because That's who I am and what I do, but even so, I will not be deterred from my life philosophy, which, incidentally, I got off of a bumper sticker on a pink 1959 Cadillac. It said, simply, "You're never too old to have a happy childhood!" Good luck.

Here's a good reference for you of a toy ship 1/200 Sov conversion (http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7270463/tm.htm) that a guy bought from Mato Toys.

You can also look for Horrible Harry's thread of his 1/144 Bismarck to see what one can do with these toy boats.

I have one of these that I bought in the supermarket in China. They cosst equivalent of just under USD 20.

They are heavy and very slow (walking speed). Perhaps scale speed, but they will never plane as they are. Battery lasts about 20-25mins.

Radio has a range of about 30 meters, but it can only be sailed on its own. I have tried to sail more than one of these ships at the same time and one will start to malufunction. Also if I use my Futabe tx then none of these 'toys' (lots where I live) will operate 3 meters away from thier own Tx.

They are a toy. But perhaps a reasonbly cheap source of a 6volt battery pack, charger, two spare motors and two plastic props.
It is the same manufacturer as the Smasher Destroyer and Challenger Carrier. Both modeled after Russian ships I believe. I have the Challenger that rolls like a pig, but I have been told they can be re-ballsted to good effect.
