If it goes backward when throttled up, perhaps you should check the INV (inverted) check box for throttle and recalibrate.

Have you tried calibrating in window first in the gampad
menu and then the properties options.
Try uninstalling the current fms completely.
Then re install the 2.85 version.
I've talked with many people that has the e-sky tx not working
properly. By uninstalling and reinstalling, it gets resolved.
Don't ask me why..they just say that it works after that.

I'd guess you are seeing the effects of CCPM: when you move the collective (throttle stick), it also affects the aileron (cyclic roll) and elevator (cyclic pitch) channels.
If your ESky TX came with a collective pitch heli, it has CCPM, which can't be disabled.
What interface you are using? Most interfaces won't un-mix CCPM (search for interfaces, which support un-mixing for this particular transmitter). You may also try using a sound cable and a SmartPropo driver--I've read that it supports un-mixing for some ESky tramsmitters, though I haven't tried it myself.

What goes backwards, the calibration bar, the model - What ?
have you tried calibrating the controller (interface) in windows via CONTROL PANEL > GAME CONTROLLERS ?
Does your transmitter have a physical switch to reverse the channel for throttle ?

Wow - these replies are like british busses - nothing for an hour or so and then three come along all at once :)

I thought it's because the replies have two levels, like all the busses in the UK.

As I wrote, CCPM can't be disabled. There's an encoder microchip, which generates PPM signal based on the stick positions. This chip uses the firmware (software, recorded into the chip by the manufacturer), which does the mixing. Without the manufacturer adding some way of enabling/disabling CCPM, the user can't change anything...
