Haligan Aircraft

What is a Haligran airplane?

Was told it was some sort of helicopter, gyrocopter based flying machine that had a rotor with propellors.

Wow, that's a hard one to find, but I think I found something.

If I dug up the right info, it's Francis Halligan (1894-1980).

The only picture I could find is of a toy 'helicopter/autogyro', follow the link then scroll down to item number 53 - 'Halligan Plane Kit'.

Link - Bergintoys (http://www.bergintoys.com/vehicles/2005-Feb/index.html)

If you want to read about the guy, (it's a loooooong read, .pdf document and 61 pages), here's a link - Francis Halligan Memoir (http://www.uis.edu/archives/memoirs/HALLIGANF.pdf)

Boy I need a coffee now. :D

Oh, but there's "patented" printed in one corner... http://www.google.com/patents?id=40JcAAAAEBAJ

Brando....

From description, that certainly resembles the A/C. Only concern being is the date of the Patent. I had thought it maybe two decades later.
