What is the toughest most reliable off road electric vehicle to buy? I purchased the Mini LST2 several months ago and I have had nothing but trouble. Every time I take it out something breaks or needs to be adjusted. I have almost put in as much to fix the truck as it cost to buy. I do not mind doing some maintenance but I only get 20 min of run time and 1 hour of fixing. I would like a off road electric truck/buggy/truggy it does not matter as long as it is tough can take small jumps and spills without falling apart or breaking. It can be any scale and does not have to go 75 mph I am just tired of fixing my LST2 every time I take it out. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you for the help.

For 4WD the new E-Maxx 16.4 - comes with waterproof electrics and is supposed to be very tough.

For 2WD the Rustle is known to be durable. I have one now with a brushless system and so far it's taken some bashing with no problems. Also look at Associated trucks but not the race ones. Race trucks are built for light weight not bashing.

I hear the new E-Maxx really eats up the batteries and you get little run time. I do like the water proof aspect as I live in OR and it rains a lot. I am not sure if I should spend the extra $ for brushless. It would be too hard to control at 70 MPH. But I would spend the extra $ if it was better built than the standard Rustler. (thanks for the info)

You wouldn't have to go brushless, just buy some killer batteries like 5000's and you will get good runtimes.

I have the stampede vxl running on 2s2p lipos long run time fast and takes a beating I haven't broke much you have to keep an eye on the spur gear. I have stripped a couple since I went to the lipos.

yup, them spurs are the best place to have a failure on that truck. make sure you get the mesh right and that the dust cover is doing it's job, that the cause about 90% of the time.

That said, any of the VXL's are tough. (steel tranny gears, "over-sized" bearings, water resistant). Get the Stampede if you want to jump and do wheelies and go on more off-road, get the Bandit if you want to go fast on more hard pack surfaces, and the Rustler offers a mix between the two.

Common guys... not one person giving any props to the Assocated B4 or T4? Both very relaible cars (B4 buggy, T4 Stadium truck) I own both and have broken very few parts on either, all the parts I have broken were my own stupidity... :D

well, perhaps not specifically.

LOL... missed that... :p Very true tho... w/ Associated stuff... stay away from the FT versions built mostly out of "Carbon" parts... they don't flex at all... they just break... and 95% of the parts ive broken were carbon parts... the plasic ones are quite a bit more forgiving... :D
