I was just checking out this forum and WOW those little R/C cars are fantastic. They appear to be quite fast.
But Im curious being into Other parts of the R/C world wich one of these little micros is best? Some of the companies I have never heard of. The only one I recognize is Kyosho:)
Thanks.
Chris.

I'm on the other side of the fence. I'm starting to get off of the ground but came from monster trucks to micro r/c and to air.
Since you've been in r/c I'd say don't waste your time and money on the lower quality cars. The original and best to me is the Tomy Bit Char-G's. They're made in Japan and have the overall best build and performance. The only problem is that they are not proportional but they're still fun, especially if you have friends to race with.
You can find out a lot at Micro RC (http://www.microrccenter.com/forum/index.php?).

I have the RC18MT from team associated, to me this is the best. :) It is fast, four wheel drive and has oil filled shocks. I know I will get emails on this comment, but I think its also better than the mini t. The down side is that there are alot of parts for it, just not as many as the mini t.

I'll second the associated RC18T/MT/B. They are all the same chassis, different style. T is the stadium truck, MT is the monster truck, and the B is a buggy. So far they seem to be the best 18th scale vehicle out there for NOW. I won't go as far to say they are the BEST, because losi is coming out with their new mini LST and a few others are coming out with nitro stuff.
Since you've been in the hobby for a while, you have probably heard the comment, you pay for what you get. I'd say get a decent radio; not too cheap, not too expensive (since you might not like it at all). I like to build things, because they get me used to the vehicle and learn the weakpoints (yes, even the besto of them have weakpoints) of it. If you decide this is the way to go, get the Associated RC18T Factory Team kit (you will need motor, esc, battery, charger, radio gear, and a micro servo). If you just want to have some fun right out of the box, get one of the RTRs.

yea, i have to agree with that. now almost every manufacturers have jumped into the 1/18 scale scene, so theres lots of cars out there to compare to which one is best. and it would be really close anyway as they're pretty similar in their drivetrain components and design.

The only doubt that I have with the LST is that it has two motors, how long will the battery run due to the power being drawn. MY RC18MT run for a good amount of time and goes pretty fast. To me the LST is just a down sized EMAXX.

yep, and it has two servos too so that doesn't help the battery much either...

I think the LST is more for looks and Bling then anything. We have a few in and they are impressive for the looks. We have not driven one yet. Your right I think the dual motors and servos will drag the battery down faster. But this thing is bigger then the other 1/18th scale trucks.
Here are a few pics.

Actually I drove it...and watched it driven at iHobby.. and it's very fast for what it has in it.. and the bettery lasts surprisingly long... the two servos turn the big front wheels with authority...and the suspension is very plush... it's actually a very nice piece of machinery... (speaking as one who owns more than 45 RC vehicles from Zip Zaps to 50-sized helis)
