12x Optical Zoom (Up To 18x Extra Optical Zoom) How does it do this? Extra lens? THX I am interested...Mark

The 18X is accomplished by lowering the mega pixels. I personally like using the 12x at full 7.1mp and cropping.
You can add a multiplier lens which will preserve the MP. You can get a cheap 2x for about $40 which would be decent, but a good multiplier would cost about $150-200

you can also change the MP setting to allow different optical zooms: ie 5.0 mp will allow 14x etc. It also has 4x digital zoom ;)

So it actually allows a mechanical(not digital) increase of the zoom? I have 6 other digital cameras (older ones) that have a fixed opt. zoom....interesting.....

I guess, but like I said I prefer using the full MP at 12X ;)
