2.4 gh radios

Is there a reason why 2.4 gh radios can't be used in a boat?
If they can, are there any special considerations involved
in the receiver location, antenna mounting, etc.? TIA.

AFAIK the only issue is; they don't work in submarines. if you have a carbon
fibre(graphite) hull the antenna must be exposed hth

I had trouble with the Spektrum 2.4GHZ gear when the boat went behind
another boats rooster tail.

Now I use the Futaba FASST 2.4GHZ sytem in all my boats without any
problems. I highly recommend it, nothing special to do other than
install it.

Some people are having a lot of trouble with 2.4 in boats. The reason is
that the signal will not go through water. If your antenna gets soaked, you
could lose control. I have watched a lot of boats lose control with 2.4Ghz
but granted, they were all using Spektrums. The Futaba or Airtronics may be
better. For me, I'm sticking with 75Mhz in my boats and using 2.4 in my
aircraft.

I have heard of a lot of people having problems with the Spectrum radios
in boats also, but there are also a bunch who claim they work great, so
who knows. On the other hand everyone who has the Futaba Fasst radios
that has posted online has nothing but good things to say about them. I
have purchased a Futaba Fasst radio, but I won't have a chance to try it
out til later in May probably. Doug

Thanks to all for the input. I've several heard negatives
about Spektrum radios in boats but only good things about
Futaba and Airtronics. I've ordered a Futaba 2.4 gh system
for an airplane and I'm half way through building an
electric rigger - I think I'll try using the new Futaba in
the rigger and will post the results.
