George, I believe this is a Billings kit of an Atlantic fish trawler.

The Polar Star is a SAito Kit no longer in production, was a whaler originally, nice conversion of the original. Was setup originally to use a steam setup but have seen a couple that were all electric, it is a nice operating model, handles wind and waves very well.

Any clues like dimensions? Just knowing the length will eliminate a great many kits.

Definately the Billings Ocean Going Trawler Polar E650
It's one of their discontinued lines. Bit Top Heavy & can be unstable with all the rigging if not ballasted correctly

If you decide to go ahead it's a nice boat that has lots of potential.
The MMI December 1995 (I've got a copy) covers making winches work, lights sounds etc. PM me with email & I'll send PDF copy of article (Too Big for Forum)
A good read.
Try Ebay for a copy (in NZ)

I decided not to go for it, it had been altered to a single prop as well, i was also watching a Aero kit RAF crash tender still in box unmade which I would of liked but it went for £265 and the guy who bought it had just bought one a week earlier for £205 boy he must love those boats, so it looks like I am still looking for another boat, something will catch my eye.
