Hi all,
Need some advice here!
Looking forwar a mid range (price) F3B, I'm considering to buy a new toy, not for a competitive edge, just lots of fun and some speed on the slope.
I'm seriously considering a Pike Brio or a German Eagle.
What you more experienced guys sugest, could be other planes if i can have a full carbon lay-ups for the rough landing zones.
Best landings! :)

Hi
I have a German Eagle that I built late last year. I got the model from Skip Miller and it was everything he told me it would be. I have not competed with it yet, but got it to be able to learn and build skills while not going to the ultra top end right off the bat.
I have flown it mostly on the slope. It handles well and the quality is quite good. I also have a Pike Superior and the quality is close, but not the same as the Pike (IMO). I've done some winch work with it and have had no issues. A nice, solid plane that looks great and is straight forward to fly.
I would say it is more on the F3B side of the F3B/F3F spectrum. By more experienced reviewers it is certainly not the fastest, but a solid plane with good manners. I would buy it again.

I have," as next to new as you can get", prestine, beautiful Pike Brio v-tail for sale. The model is yellow over yellow and red stripes. I have pictures which I can send you if you give me your email. I have the model really reduced because I have some other models Im waiting for. Bought it for $1275 selling $900 plus shipping . $900 is a great price for a Brio.
If you want a new plane, I can't recomend a Ceres, or a Furio (V-tail only) more. I am a Ceres guy, because I fly more F3b than F3F. In fact, we are really splitting hairs between the performance on these two models. They are very different, but equally great. For F3b, the Ceres is a world class model, no doubt. It has yet to be proven in F3F slope racing conditions, but it has been working really well. The Furio, is one of the best F3F slope racers on the planet, and has done well in F3b, but it is not "creame of the crop" for F3b. So there you have my honest opinion, two great models, at a great price point.
New models are really expensive, the Dollar just sucks right now. You can pick up a German Eagle, a Brio, or any other older design for very cheap, and have a great time with them. They can teach you all of the skills, and allow you to improve you F3b skills. But todays newest designs, are a whole nother level.

Hi bud,
I've to thank you for your clarification, I was like a blind cause I'm fresh in that business.
I'll go for a Brio first, Im looking for fun in the slope, not a racer.
I'm pretty sure tha the Brio will be the hottest sailplane in my slope are for the next years, if I dont smash it on the ground...
I wish you the best landings.

Hi,
Djklein21: Have you flown both the Viking and the Furio? If so, how do they compare? -I have a Viking, and a Furio is on order. -I`m also wondering what is the difference between the Ceres an the Furio?

I have not flown a Viking for F3b. It seems like a great plane. I did repair one, and the wing was built really nicely. But since that was before I got into F3b, I have no opinion about the Viking. The Viking makers have moved on to the Ascot, as the Furio guys have moved to the Precious. If you already have a Viking, it will do F3b. You can learn all of the essential techniques with that plane. When you get serious about f3b competition, you will likely want a more modern, top of the line plane. Specifically designed for high end F3b competition.
The Ceres is a top of the line, "A" quality F3b plane. I am in love with mine. It is my top choice of all available planes for F3b. I love my Ceres. I bought another. It is the only plane I fly anymore. The Furio is a great plane. Its design is over 5 years old. It is no loner a top of the line F3b plane. It is however a top of the line slope racer. It is great all around. The V-tail is measurably faster than the cross tail. For slope racing, it has a much more proven track record than the Ceres. For F3b there is no question, I would pick the Ceres every day of the week, and twice on Sunday. The Ceres is an F3b monster.
