Not exactly oldtimer or vintage as this 1/4 scale monocoupe that I purchased is an ARF. Made in England and discontinued, black and orange and one of the finest ARFs that I have seen. I would like to know more about the manufacturer and dates and I posted it here because of all the gents overseas who visit and comment on this particular forum. Any comments or help would be appreciated......Bill :)

I dont know of the kit manufacturer.. but it sounds an interesting model. Can we see some pics?.
Just as a matter of interest, there is a Velie Monocoupe 70 hanging in the California Museum of Science and Industry in Los Angeles.

Not much point and posting pictures as the ARF looks exactly like the full size you posted. Amazingly scale and the wing struts are carbon fibre. The only difference is that mine will be getting a 3cyl as apposed to the 5. Thanks for those pics I am hoping I can do a scale functional exhaust like the full scale.

I know of a 1/4 scale plan for the Velie Monocoupe 70 (hence the pics) ;) that suggests a 20 size motor (I'm planning a OS 26 FS) as its VERY lightweight structure.
What motor are you planning for the ARTF?

Toesup, I plan on installing a Saito 90 3cyl. four stroke in the ARF. This airplane has an 80" span and is also very light. Should be a real winner as it has flaps as well. Just need to find a Saito at an affordable price :rolleyes: If I can't find a 3 cyl. I have a Saito 90 twin I could install but would much rather have the 3. regards Bill

Yeeeesh Bill... a 90! :eek::eek::eek:
The plan i have is 1/4 scale and 80" span and it calls for a 20FS or electric. I've seen one fly on a 26FS so the ARTF calling for a 90 must be built like a brick!.

That looks like Vern Dallman's Velie...is there any way to find this out? I remember when I visited his place, oh, 'bout 8-9 years ago after he had just completed the restoration. It was done in cotton (!) and the M-5 looked like it had just been uncrated from the factory delivery truck. He had gone to the detail of restoration where nothing was chromed or powder coated to 'update' the appearance of the engine, it was exactly as the factory would have built it; even the dope finish was not any more shiny than it would have been in the Twenties. I heard he showed it at the Watsonville fly-in about a year later, just before the in-flight fire accident in his friend's homebuilt. It'd be grand to see that airplane properly displayed.

From what i can find out Vern Dallman's Veilie Monocoupe 70 is now hanging in the Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos, CA.
The one pictured (at the California Museum of Science and Industry in Los Angeles) was originally owned by George Law, purchased NC6730, serial number 133, in July 1928.. Tony LeVier restored NC6730 1975-78
