Trying to get my son into a hobby I bought him a Tamiya Blitzer Beetle rc
kit for Christmas. I have a Futaba Attack FP-T2NL radio that was given to
us. The radio comes with a battery holder for 4 AA batteries. The kit does
not require this set up But states to use a B.E.C. (Battery Eliminator
Circuitry). Question: Is there a switch that I can buy that will allow me to
use this radio? The old switch is wired directly into the battery holder.
What I need is the harness to run from the speed controller to the radio
receiver. I have look on Tower Hobbies web site and found some but not sure
as to the type of connectors I need to make this work. Can it be done this
way? Do need to buy another radio? If another radio is needed any
suggestions? Son prefers a 2 stick radio. Any help would be much appreciated
as I'm quite new to this.

sounds great. Advice: buy more batteries!

Does the radio receiver specifically say it has BEC? I think it does, but i
just wanna check before you fry the thing.
The r112je reciever has the letters "bec" molded right into the plastic.

you need this one. It connects to the BEC output on the speed controller and
into the receiver.

Sure.

Yes. but only if your getting another car too. Then you can race!

Your doing fine so far. The issue with switch harnesses and BEC plugs has
been an annoyance for a while now.

In order to use the BEC connection from the speed control, you need a
receiver with a built-in BEC. The fact that the switch is hard-wired
to the battery box leads me to believe that your receiver does not
have a built-in BEC, and if you connect it directly to the speed
control, it will burn out. Check the radio's instructions, and look
for any indication of BEC on the receiver.

I actually have one of these radios, the receiver does work with a BEC, the
digital speed controller you buy should have a switch on it already, and the
throttle control wire you plug into the receiver also gives it power, so
technically nothing goes into the Battery slot on the receiver.

Thanks for all the help folks!

I just went ahead and bought him a new radio and he loves it! Had to work on
him to try a pistol grip radio but after he got it out last night on a
tennis court he was sold!
This is his first and I'm hoping it will be something he will have a growing
interest in. He's so proud of his car. Again folks thanks for the info.
