FYI: I've been trying to experiment with making AFPD less 'floaty' as is the biggest complaint I've heard about AFPD. I've made a few tweaks that I feel (IMHO) really help it feel less 'floaty'.

1) Increase the simulation speed to about 115-120% (a lot of what I was assuming was 'floatiness' actually was it feeling in slow-motion)

2) Decrease the idle RPM and total power (With full throttle trim and throttle all the way down, the plane was taking off before and that gives way more power than needed, so if that is turned down it will feel more realistic) You can also move the throttle trim all the way down.

Anyone else have other 'tweaks' they've made to make AFPD more realistic in general? IMHO these 2 have immensly helped, but it may feel different for others!

Is AFPD too floaty? maybe, but the planes fly *a lot closer* to the planes I fly (45-50" electrics/ 38" foamies) than Realflight.

I never thought about speeding AFPD up. I'll have to try that.

Matt, which planes are you flying? I have some real nice large 3ds I got over at Flying Giants.

Also, have you tried to harrier around and pop the balloons? I try and time myself to measure improvement.

The main plane(s) I'm flying is the stock Extra that comes with AFPD so it may depend on what you are generally flying in AFPD.

I'd agree about the realism as well, compared to all other simulators I've tried I've been most impressed with Aerofly's realism (although Phoenix came close for me, but after tweaking the AFPD planes, AFPD seems more realstic to me...)
