Hi all.
Just a quick question regarding rigging.
My Triumph 800 came with string for the rigging. Is it necessary to glue the strings in position once the tension has been taken up so that they dont loosen up or will they stay tight on their own?
I may need to pull apart to transport so Im not sure if glueing is a good idea or not.
Thanks in advance.

Don't even think of glueing the lines. you will need to adjust it day by day when you sail, such as taking up slacks here and there after sailing, or making adjustments...

Ok, no glue!
Thanks for that. I figured it was a silly question to ask, but just wanted to double check.

Nothing is silly enough until you actually did it though.. I witness someone who mistakenly epoxy his mast to his hull. Now that is worst situation than yours if you glued those lines. Lines can be cut, but epoxied mast to hull.. hmmm..

Hi,
As a pro rigger, I'd replace all the strings supplied with wire, you can obtain from your local tackle store, 1x19 plastic coated fishing wire is best, and you can get some crimps to made ends.
Attach some rigging screws and it will be a far better rig than supplied,

What Todd said, or at least some Spectra fishing line and bowsies.

Another vote for the 1x19 coated, stainless leader wire. I used the 46lb test on the V32 I just "finished".
That stuff was sooo much easier to work with than the supplied solid stainless wire. The crimps were even easier to work with and felt more secure.
Hmmm...would the 1x19 be a suitable replacement for the dacron lines going through all the bowsies?

Cheers for the info guys. I'll head down to the local tackle store this week end.
This newbie really appreciates the input from all of you.
Many thanks

Quick question for Todd. If I use the 1 x 19 wire, do the crimps replace the bowsies?
Cheers
