Does anybody know if this works? My brother is having problems with

According to a write-up in a recent RCCA, the Futaba uses a
high-frequency (that's data frequency, not radio frequency)
transmission mode called "HRS".

I gather that if you want to use the 3PK with a standard receiver, you
need to turn HRS mode _off_ and use standard FM mode.

Whether or not it works, or can me made to work, is immaterial if you live in the Unites States since using the Hitec modile in the Futaba is in violation of FCC regs.

Cripes, I was thinking of the Novak XXTRA receiver, not the Hitec
Spectra frequency module. As far as I know, the Spectra only works
with the Lynx 3D radio.

Ok let me rephrase the question for all the COPs(Citizens On Patrol):

If I wanted know if this "could" work...OR...I lived on an
uninhabitated island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, would this
work?

Rick,

A standard FM Receiver would be used...NOT HRS.

The 3PK 'can' work with the Hitec module and the Novak XXTra receiver.
Check out the http://www.maxxtraxx.com radio forums for a topic on
the same subject, where someone verified this. Personally, I'm not
sure whether it matters too much, since the Airtronics M8 has a Novak
Switch (same thing as the Hitec, basically) that is meant to do this,
and also works with the XXTra. If you want to be strictly 'legal',
for all the FCC hounds out there, that's a decent combination too, not
to mention a bit less expensive than the 3PK setup. (Not that I
personally am not theoretically considering the same setup you're
asking about ;) ).
